I am the Deputy Director and a Senior Policy Fellow at the Development Policy Centre, and a Fellow in the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics. My research lies at the intersection of development economics, labour economics, international trade, and the environment. I returned to Canberra and the ANU in 2019 from academic appointments in the Department of Economics at Dartmouth College and the Department of Earth System Science and the Centre on Food Security and the Environment at Stanford University. I worked mostly in the Australian Government, global development, and finance before that.
I currently lead the Economic Development stream of DFAT’s Pacific Research Program and labour mobility research, and am a Principal Investigator of the Small Firm Diaries. I also convene the ACDE Seminars, the Pacific Update, the labour mobility webinars, and the Pacific Migration Research Workshop, and edit Asia and the Pacific Policy Studies (AE), the Development Policy Centre Discussion Papers, and the Blog your Development PhD Research series on the Devpolicy blog.
