Policy Bites: Reducing emissions

17 May 2019

Episode Summary

Associate Professor Paul Burke looks at the Australian major parties’ emission reduction targets.

Episode Notes

Both major parties have pledged to reduce emissions by 2030, with the Coalition promising to reach the Paris commitment of 26-28 per cent, and Labor setting their target at 45 per cent below 2005 levels.

In this Policy Bite, Paul Burke discusses whether Australia is, in fact, on track for reaching the Paris Agreement emissions reduction target, and why an energy transition towards renewables, away from fossil fuels, is the key to success. Listen here.
