In recent years I have been closely involved in a major program of terrorist rehabilitation. In this seminar, I will discuss the successes and shortcomings of this program and use a number of individual case studies to consider the validity of various concepts of terrorist behaviour. These include Fathali Mogadham’s theory on the ‘staircase to terrorism’ and John Horgan’s ideas of how a normal individual become involved in violent activity.
